CMHS Minority Alumni Council awards inaugural scholarships

The Cardinal Mooney High School Minority Alumni Council (MAC) has awarded its inaugural scholarships to current CMHS students and graduating members of the Class of 2018.

Open to all students regardless of race or ethnicity, scholarships were awarded based on a thorough application process including personal statement/essay, community service component and teacher recommendations.

The MAC awarded two laptop/book scholarships to graduating seniors to provide financial assistance in obtaining the necessary tools to excel at college.

Winners were Kenneth Bledsoe, II a Business Administration student at Hiram College who looks to be a future Law School graduate; and Jordyn Rae Austin, a current college freshman at Bowling Green who is studying education, looking to assist children with disabilities in her future career.

The MAC also awarded two academic achievement scholarships to current Mooney students. Two scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each were given to academically exceptional students demonstrating a record of community service and intent to continue their education at Cardinal Mooney High School. This year’s winners were current senior Alana Bowser and junior Santino “Sonny” Rodriguez.
