Packard Museum director to lecture on auto’s history

John Marino of the National Packard Museum board of directors will give a program on the Packard Automobile Co. at 10 a.m. Saturday in the meeting room at Kravitz Deli, 3135 Belmont Ave.

The lecture is sponsored by the William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society. Admission is $6 ($5 for society members). Offerings will be accepted to benefit the society and there will also be a raffle and entertainment by vocalist Delores DePietro.

The program will touch on the lives of the Packard Brothers of Warren, the founding of the Packard Automobile Co., and the factors that led to the demise of the company.

Marino, of Canfield, is a professor emeritus and an adjunct instructor at Kent State University. A practicing management consultant, Marino has held management positions with Dupont, Polaroid and Sears, Roebuck and Co.

A U.S. Army veteran, he has served as assistant commandant of the 2077th Reserves Forces School, and adjunct faculty at the U.S. Army Transportation School at Fort Eustis and the Command and General Staff College at Leavenworth.

Marino serves on the board of directors of the Society of Automotive Historians. He has a master’s degree from Suffolk University, Boston, and an undergraduate degree from Youngstown State University.
