The Campbell Memorial High School Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Banquet will be held Oct. 11 at Christ the Good Shepherd Palermo Center at 6 p.m.
The Hall of Fame also will honor the 1993 Basketball and Baseball state championship teams. Tickets cost $35.

YSU’s Strollo to speak to Curbstone Coaches

Youngstown State University Director of Athletics Ron Strollo will be the guest speaker at Monday’s luncheon meeting of The Curbstone Coaches at the Avion Banquet Center on Western Reserve Road.
The event begins at noon and the public is welcome to attend.
Poland selling tickets for Howland game
POLAND
The Poland High School Athletic Office will be selling general admission football tickets to Friday’s Hall of Fame Game against Howland beginning Monday.
The High school Athletic Office ticket sale hours are 12:30-4 p.m.
Tickets also may be purchased at Trolio’s T-Shirts weekdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Advance student tickets cost $4 and adult tickets acost $6. All tickets at the gate cost $7.
Cavs sign former Bulls guard David Nwaba
CLEVELAND
The Cavaliers signed free-agent guard David Nwaba to a one-year contract.
The deal is for the veteran’s minimum of $1.5 million.
The 25-year-old Nwaba played for Chicago last season, averaging 7.9 points and 4.7 rebounds in 70 games. The 6-foot-4 guard made 21 starts.
YSU men win Tommy Evans Invitational

The Youngstown State men’s cross country team won its first Tommy Invitational while the women’s team placed fourth on Saturday at Silver Creek Metro Park.
The Penguins had five runners finish in the top 12 and senior Alan Burns led the way with second-place time of 19:54. Senior Ryan Sullivan finished sixth with a time of 20:54 while James Nedrich and Tyler Polman were ninth and 10th, respectively, with times of 20:12 each.
Derek Basinger’s time of 20:21 was good enough for a 12th-place finish. Cole Lovett ran a 20:30 and finished 20th and Ethan Sparks placed 23rd with a time of 20:39.
On the women’s side, freshman Mackenzie Scott paced the Penguins with a 10th-place time of 18:45 and sophomore Nicole Squatrito was 16th with a time of 18:51. Natalie Fleming came in 21st with a time of 19:00 and Maggie Sebest finished 25th with a time of 19:04.
Jennifer Muhlenkamp ran a 19:32 to place 35th and Casey Zaitzew and Charlotte Crouch finished 40th and 41st, respectively, with times of 19:45 and 1:50.
Both teams will compete at the Auto Owners/Playmakers Spartan Invitational, hosted by Michigan State University, on Friday, in East Lansing, Mich.
YSU volleyball falls to UNC Williamson

The Youngstown State volleyball team split a pair of four-set matches on Saturday to conclude its play at the 2018 Jefferson Cup. The Penguins topped George Mason (28-26, 21-25, 25-16, 25-16) in the morning, and they fell to tournament champion UNC Wilmington (25-15, 23-25, 25-15, 25-21) in the afternoon.
Western Reserve graduate Aleah Hughes and Margaux Thompson both had double-doubles in both matches for the Penguins, and Hughes went on to earn all-tournament team honors.
Against George Mason, Thompson had 16 kills and 16 digs, and Hughes finished with 14 kills and 14 digs.
Against UNCW, Hughes had 13 kills and 18 digs while Thompson posted 10 kills and 12 digs.
