Latino Food Fest takes place today
YOUNGSTOWN
The seventh International Latino Food Festival will take place today from noon to 6 p.m. at the OCCHA Social Hall, 3660 Shirley Road. Admission and parking are free.
The OCCHA (Hispanic American Civic and Cultural Organization) is the sponsor.
Visitors can taste authentic and handmade Hispanic cuisine, including desserts and beverages. The menu includes items such as lechon y pollo asado (pork and chicken roast), sancocho (meat and vegetable stew with white rice), congri (rice with black beans), pastelon (plaintain casserole), arroz con gandules (rice with pigeon peas), and fricase de Cabro (goat in sauce).
Other delicacies will include pastelillos (fried turnovers), tostones (fried plantains), empanadas (baked turnovers), tamales (corn base filled with meat or cheese), quinoa salad, Aji de Gallina (chicken in a cheese sauce) and more.
Among the selection of desserts are flan (caramel custard), mousse de maracuy ° (passion fruit mousse), tres leches (three milks cake) and tembleque (coconut pudding).
Pricing is based on combo meals and a la carte items.
Countries represented will be Argentina, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, Spain and others, and the culture of these countries will be part of the event.
