Wetzels observe 50th during family vacation

Mr. and Mrs. Ron Wetzel of Boardman celebrated their golden wedding anniversary June 24 during a Mass and renewal of vows at Holy Family Church in Poland followed by a brunch at the Holiday Inn in Boardman hosted by the couple’s daughters.

The couple also celebrated the occasion on a trip to Aruba and during a vacation trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., with their family.

The Wetzels are the parents of Lawni Lynn (Todd) Ross of Middlefield and Rochel Lee (Nate) Wolfe of Portsmouth. Four grandchildren complete their family.

The former Ilona Kuharik and Mr. Wetzel were married June 22, 1968, at St. Ann Church in Farrell, Pa.

She retired in 1999 from Eye Care Associates in Youngstown where she worked as a medical assistant.

Mr. Wetzel was a salesman for Taylor Steel in Lordstown before retiring in 2006.

The couple are members of Holy Family Church, the USGA and the YMCA.
