1993: An insurance scam that involved cars stolen from the General Motors plant in Lordstown has resulted in the indictment of 13 people, most current and former GM employees. The FBI said the scam resulted in insurance payments in excess of $150,000.

1943: Louis Heller, 89, one of Youngstown’s leading builders, died at his home on Belmont Avenue after a four-month illness. After arriving from Switzerland with his bride in 1880, he founded the contracting company later known as Heller Bros. Co.
