St. Lucy’s Cultural Society will host a handmade spaghetti dinner from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Palermo Center, 394 Tenney Ave. Menu includes spaghetti with homemade sauce, meatballs, salad, rolls, cake and coffee. Take-out dinners available; bring containers or purchase them for 50 cents each. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Fowler United Methodist Church will host a chicken pie dinner from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at 3426 state Route 193. Cost is $10 for adults; $5 for children age 6 to 12; and free for preschool age children. Society to host author

Local urban author and historian Sean T. Posey will be the guest speaker at 10 a.m. for the Boardman Historical Society’s meeting at Boardman Library, 7680 Glenwood Ave. The program is part of a new series of BHS public offerings. The presentations are open to the public and admission is free. Reservations are suggested, but walk-ins are welcomed and admitted based upon seating availability. Posey will speak on his best-selling book “Lost Youngstown.” He will recall demolished landmarks, such as Idora Park, Strouss and McKelvey’s Department Stores, the Palace, State and Paramount Theaters and more. St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will begin pirogi sales Sept. 14. Call in orders to 330-755-1316 from 8 to 11 a.m. Sept. 13 and beginning at 9 a.m. Sept. 14. Choose potato, kraut or prune pirogi at $6 per dozen. Pickup will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 14.

Helmet giveaway set at Quinby Park today

Trumbull County Creating Healthy Communities Coalition and Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership will host a Bicycle Helmet Giveaway from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Quinby Park. Helmets will be given to the first 80 children in attendance to have their helmet fitted properly.

BHS to host Band Night

The Boardman Spartan Marching Band and the Boardman Band and Orchestra Parents Inc. will host Boardman Band Night at 7 p.m. Saturday in Spartan Stadium on the high school campus. Participating high school bands include McDonald, Springfield, West Branch, Lowellville, Austintown, Canfield, Howland. Admission at the gates is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Senior citizens are admitted free to all Boardman Band events. Gates open at 6 p.m..

The Craig Beach Volunteer Fire Department will host a Fall Harvest and Holiday Craft show, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the fire department, 1797 Grandview Road.
