On Aug. 20 the Poland library hosted a crafting event to make pompom door hangers.
The project, which was run by librarian Missy Williams, was free to attend.
All participants were required to pre-register, with 25 people able to attend.
“We always have more supplies ready for people to walk in, and a few pre-registered don’t show up, so we try to be accommodating,” Williams said.
All supplies for the event, including yarn, cardboard pompom makers and scissors, were provided by the library.
Williams used a video she found online to demonstrate how to use the cardboard to make a pompom.
Members of the group then used the supplies to create three pompoms each, using what ever color yarn they want. Williams then showed the group how to connect the pompoms and use the yarn to create a door hanger.
“I wanted something low technology and low stress that could be good to use at home and easily replicated,” Williams said. She also offered tips and tricks to doing the project, along with an example of one she completed previously.
The next adult crafting event, Color Your World, will take place at the Poland library on Sept. 20 from 7-8 p.m. For more information about upcoming events or to pre-register, visit libraryvisit.org.
