YOUNGSTOWN
The Rust Belt Theater Company will present “Hollow,” its second new and original musical of the season, for six performances beginning this weekend.
Shows will be at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and again on Sept 14, 15, 21 and 22, at Rust Belt’s venue in Calvin Center, 755 Mahoning Ave., near downtown.
“Hollow” is a retelling of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” by Washington Irving, with original music by Robert Dennick Joki and Josh Taylor.
Directed by Mary Boldish James, the production follows the exploits of Ichabod Crane and his ghostly encounter with the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow.
“The story is presented by the actors, in the center of the room, with the audience seated on three sides,” said Joki. “We want it to have a ‘gather round the campfire’ feel because it’s that kind of story.”
The cast includes Bernadette Lim, Kage Coven, Celena Coven, Lisa Torrence, Ryan Musgrove, Jack Rusk, Alivia Dawn, Janelle Yohman, Leon Avery, Samandriel Mentzer, Katharine Skaggs, Madi Pomeroy, Logan Stafford, Rachel Clifford, Geri Dewitt and Cassie Wirtz.
Tickets are $15 ($10 for students and senior citizens). For reservations, call 330-507-2358.
