TCBDD creates Dedication Wall

The Trumbull County Board of Developmental Disabilities recently created a Dedication Wall as an outlet for self-expression and to commemorate its adult services transportation department. The Dedication Wall was an idea based off a project completed by the Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership called “Better Block.” The idea was expanded to make the paintings more personal, encouraging individuals to paint whatever they wanted to express. The wall is open to any individual currently receiving services at the Niles Workshop, Tomaski Center or Fairhaven Industries Champion Workshop. Individuals can freely paint a block or two in the transportation department’s entryway. Currently, there are 20 participating individuals, who have contributed designs ranging from lady bugs and flowers to handprints and names. The cinderblock wall, which is currently 9.5- by 7-feet, will be expanded further into the building in the future if more individuals show interest.

Retired teachers will meet Sept. 12

Mahoning Retired Teachers Association will meet for its fall luncheon at 11 a.m. Sept. 12 at Drake’s Landing in Canfield. The social hour is at 11 with lunch at 11:45. Phillip Butto will preside. Day of Caring planned

NEW CASTLE, PA

United Way of Lawrence County, along with nonprofit agencies in the area, are preparing for the annual Day of Caring to take place at 8 a.m. Thursday at Cascade Park Pavilion with breakfast catered by Shop n Save. Keynote speaker for the event will be Anthony Razanno, CPA and American Red Cross board member. This event will kick off the 2018 United Way Annual Campaign that raises funds for local charities in Lawrence County. Library will close for repairs, repaving

AUSTINTOWN

The Austintown Library, 600 S. Raccoon Road, will temporarily close for two weeks beginning Sept. 10 for repairs to and repaving of the parking lot.
