City voters to face term limits, fracking rerun in November

YOUNGSTOWN — City voters this November will decide whether to eliminate term limits for members of Youngstown city council and the council president.

The Mahoning County Board of Elections certified those issues along with an anti-fracking proposal that has been voted down seven times since 2013 at its meeting this morning.

City council members currently face a limit of two four-year terms. After that, they must sit out a term before again seeking election.

If voters approve the charter amendment on Nov. 6, there would be no limit to the number of consecutive terms a council member could serve.
