Boardman Band Night scheduled for Saturday

BOARDMAN

The Boardman Spartan Marching Band and the Boardman Band and Orchestra Parents, Inc., will host Boardman Band Night ’18 at 7 p.m. Sept. 8 at Spartan Stadium on the high school campus. Participating high school bands include McDonald, Springfield, West Branch, Lowellville, Austintown, Canfield, Howland and the Boardman Spartan Marching Band.

Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Senior citizens are admitted free to all Boardman Band events. Gates open at 6 p.m.

The band is under the direction of Thomas M. Ruggieri, Timothy Tuite and Michael Shevock. Fans are encouraged to visit www.boardmanband.org for information about the band program. The trip this school year will take place in December as the band travels to Gatlinburg, Tenn., to march in the Gatlinburg Fantasy of Lights Holiday Parade.

Flag retiring to take place in September

Shepherd of the Valley will be accepting tired, torn and faded American flags that need to be retired, during the month of September.

Flags may be dropped off at any Shepherd of the Valley community from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily and from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at corporate offices. Western Reserve Road, Poland, 330-726-7110; and Corporate Office/At Home With Shepherd, 5525 Silica Road, Austintown, 330-530-4038.

Flags will then be delivered to local veterans’ groups for proper disposal. For information, contact the nearest Shepherd of the Valley.
