Kentucky 35, Central Michigan 20

LEXINGTON, KY.

A.J. Rose and Benny Snell Jr. each rushed for two touchdowns, Gunnar Hoak came off the bench to throw the go-ahead TD pass and Kentucky overcame four first-half turnovers to beat Central Michigan. The Chippewas led 17-7 in the second quarter. Kentucky rallied with two TDs over the final four minutes of the half, including Hoak’s 24-yard scoring pass to David Bouvier for a 21-20 edge with 14 seconds remaining. Rose rushed for 125 yards on 20 carries and Snell ran for 104 yards on eight attempts.

Ohio 38, Howard 32

ATHENS

Backup Quinton Maxwell threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more, DL Knock returned the second half kickoff 99 yards for a score and Ohio rallied to defeat Howard. Ilyaas Motley sealed the win by intercepting Caylin Newton on a fourth-and-nine pass from midfield with 14 seconds left. Maxwell threw touchdown passes of 11 yards to Papi White and 13 to Cameron Odom to pull the Bobcats within 22-17 at the half. Maxwell finished 17 of 25 for 233 yards. Newton was 26 of 52 for 439 yards and three touchdowns but had two interceptions.

Toledo 66, VMI 3

TOLEDO

Mitchell Guadagni passed for 265 yards and three touchdowns in leading defending Mid-American Conference champion Toledo to a victory over VMI. Guadagni was 11-of-16 passing, completing touchdown passes to Jon’Vea Johnson (57 yards), Cody Thompson (38 yards) and Diontae Johnson (48 yards). Thompson also blocked a punt and recovered the ball in the end zone for the game’s first points. Bryant Koback and Shakif Seymour ran for two touchdowns each and Nevone McCrimmon one.

Marshall 35, Miami (Ohio) 28

OXFORD

Isaiah Green threw for two touchdowns as Marshall beat Miami (Ohio). Green had 272 yards passing for the Thundering Herd. Anthony Anderson ran for two touchdowns and Keion Davis led the ground game with 76 yards and a score on 17 carries. The RedHawks scored on a 19-yard pass late in the second quarter to make it 14-7 but Anderson capped another long Marshall drive just before the break with his second scoring run, stretching it to 21-7 at halftime. Gus Ragland threw for 357 yards and three scores for the RedHawks, including two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
