Gingerbread house contest at museum seeks entries

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society is partnering with Next Best Art and SMARTS to present the second-annual Youngstown Gingerbread House Competition. This year’s entries will be on display during Memories of Christmas Past at the Arms Family Museum.

Entries can be made in both adult and youth categories. Major and structural components do not need to be constructed from gingerbread, but should be made of edible materials. Gingerbread “kit” houses are permitted. A registration form can be found at mahoninghistory.org/gingerbread. Forms should be turned in by Nov. 9.

Finished houses will be delivered to the Arms museum Nov. 14 and 15. Children’s workshops will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 10, and at 5 p.m. Nov. 13. Cost is $10 and includes all materials.
