ASSOCIATIONS

American Association of University Women Youngstown Branch will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 3 at the Boardman Pubic Library, 7680 Glenwood Ave., Boardman. “Ecosystems in the Isle of Man” will be the topic of Dr. Colleen McLean’s talk. Dr. McLean, a professor in the Department of Geology and Environmental Science at YSU, also will speak about local issues in the Mahoning Valley. For information, call 330-758-4142.

Buckeye Travelers, Mahoning Valley Chapter of Gold Wing Road Riders Association, will meet Saturday for dinner at 5 p.m. and a gathering at 6 at Dino’s Restaurant, 10941 Mahoning Ave., North Jackson. All motorcycle riders and makes of motorcycles are welcome.

Mill Creek Chapter of ABWA will meet Nov. 13 at A La Cart Catering in Canfield to celebrate its 56th anniversary. Networking will take place at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:30. The menu will feature roast beef, southern baked chicken, sandtrap potatoes, tomato, pepper and onion salad, rolls, coffee or tea and cake. Cost is $23 per person, and reservations may be made by calling Mary Brown at 330-770-6253 by Nov. 8. The Austintown Fitch Choir will provide entertainment. The public is welcome.

CLUBS

Canfield Republican Women’s Club dinner meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Nov. 7 at A La Cart Catering in Canfield. The group will celebrate the mid-term election cycle and will be electing the 2019-20 CRWC board. Those attending may take their own beverages. First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown Luncheon Speaker Series will host Gregory Wasinski from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 W. Western Reserve Road, Canfield. Wasinski is the executive director of Let Me Be Ministries in Cleveland and will speak about “Where Faith and Real Life Come Together.” Cost is $18. GFWC Ohio Boardman-Poland Junior Women’s League will meet Nov. 5 at Glenellen Assisted Living, 9661 Market St., Boardman, at 7 p.m. Members are to bring Heifer International donation boxes to be turned in to the international office. Members also are to bring items for the shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child for the Juniorettes to put together at a later date. Hostesses for the meeting are Joyce Martin and Sperry Rongone. The league is open to all women over 18 residing in Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana counties who are interested in friendship, fun and community involvement. Youngstown South Christian Women’s Connection will host its 80th anniversary celebration luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 14 at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 W. Western Reserve Road, Canfield. The event will feature Chico’s Fashion Show, music and Bob Noble. The guest speaker will be Meryl Bishop on “Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone.” Cost is $14, which includes lunch. Reservations are essential by Nov. 7 and cancellations are required. SUPPORT GROUPS

Grief Share Support Group, hosted by Churchill United Methodist Church, 189 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, Liberty, meets at 6 p.m. each Thursday through Dec. 13. The program is for all who have suffered a loss. The meetings take place on the second floor of the church’s educational building. For information, call Janice Ferry at 330-759-1924.

Grief Recovery Instructional Support Groups will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home Care Center, next to the funeral home on Main Street in Hubbard. The groups are led by Phillip Roland, grief counselor for the funeral home, and are open to anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one. NAMI Mahoning Valley offers Connections support groups for adults living with mental illness, in a discussion format, to promote self-disclosure in a safe, relaxed, supportive and confidential environment. Connections meets the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at 6 p.m. at Alta Care Building, 142 Javit Court, Austintown. NAMI Mahoning Valley also offers Family Support Groups that provide information and support for family members and friends of individuals with mental illness. Family groups meet the first Thursday of each month at 11 a.m. at Girard Library, 105 E. Prospect St.; and the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at Alta Care, 142 Javit Court. Dual Diagnosis Group will meet the first and third Monday each month at the Homes for Kids office, 165 E. Park Ave., Niles.
