Church is taking orders for ham loaves

Girard First United Methodist Church, 22 N. Market St., is taking orders for individual ham loaves for $2.50 each. Orders are due Nov. 2 by calling the church office at 330-545-4361. Pickup will be from noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 12.

Block Watch to host fundraiser

GIRARD

Friendship Baptist Church, 111 Water St., will be the site of a book signing and fundraiser, sponsored by the Know Your Neighbor Block Watch, that will take place at 3 p.m. Nov. 3.

The program topic will be VOICE Project Celebration, a youth enrichment program.

The event is free and open to the public. Book donations are $20 and will be signed by participating youth who also will share some of their experiences.

Romanian heritage exhibit ending soon

The last chance to view the featured “Romania’s Rich Heritage” exhibit at the Salem Historical Society, 208 S. Broadway Ave., will be Sunday as the museum will close for the season.

Virginia “Vi” Begalla, a lifelong resident, will be in attendance from from 1 to 3:30 p.m. to greet those interested in learning or recalling the legacy. Elaine Reiter also will be present. She recently returned from Romania and will bring pictures of her visit. Copies of “Romania’s One Hundred Years 1900-2000” will be available in the gift shop.

Church to host Trunk or Treat

Heritage Presbyterian Church, 1951 Mathews Road, will host a Trunk or Treat in the parking lot from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

Library to host witchy program Monday

There are six witchy tales from Columbiana County that will be shared with the audience when Kimberly Frazier Mitchell visits Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Mitchell, a paranormal historian, previously has shared stories of the paranormal goings-on in Columbiana County. Some of the stories to be shared at this presentation are: “The Three Witches of Lipply Road,” “The Warlock of Wellsville” and “The Georgetown Cemetery Witch.” Included in the presentation will be photos from each area discussed.

The Lepper Library, 303 E. Lincoln Way, will host an afternoon movie at 2 p.m. Monday. It will be a 1956 mystery, starring Doris Day and Jimmy Stewart.

Adoption Day planned

Nov. 2 has been designated as Adoption Day in recognition of National Adoption Month. “The Adoption Took Time: The Love Arrived Instantly” is this year’s theme.

Families will be finalizing their adoptions during the Trumbull County celebration through the Trumbull County Probate Court before Probate Judge James A. Fredericka. In addition to the adoption hearings, Warren Harding High School’s choir will provide entertainment, Hubbard High School will create artwork, and refreshments will be offered to participants.

The Warren Junior Women’s League will provide support to the adoptive families.

A bubble blast will end the celebration outside the courthouse. The bubbles will be provided by the facilitator of OH WOW! The Roger & Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology, Ralf Urbach. For information, call Children Services at 330-372-2010.
