Valley recipes group plans a tasting event

YOUNGSTOWN

The Recipes of Youngstown group on Facebook will present a tasting event to honor the U.S. Armed Forces – and to promote the group’s third cookbook – from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Anthony’s Church, 1125 Turin St.

More than 30 dishes will be prepared by bakers whose recipes are included in the new cookbook.

A portion of the proceeds from the event and from sales of the new cookbook will be used to fund a scholarship for military veterans finishing their education.

Admission is free; tasting tickets are six for $5. Takeout containers will be sold. The event will include a basket raffle, a candy contest, and a homemade costume contest for children age 11 and under at 2 p.m. For information, call 330-743-2589.
