Guthrie, Marley coming to venue

AKRON

Arlo Guthrie wil come to the University of Akron’s E.J. Thomas Hall on Nov. 1, and Stephen Marley will perform at the venue Nov. 4.

Tickets frange from $45 to $95 for Guthrie, and $39 to $44 for Marley, and are on sale now at ticketmaster.com and by phone at 800- 745-3000.

Badger High presents comedy

KINSMAN

Badger High School theater will present “Ladies, Sigh No More,” a comedy that takes seven of Shakespeare’s tragic heroines and has them working through their ill-fated pasts in group therapy. It will be presented on the auditorium stage on Oct. 26 and 27 at 7 p.m., and Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $6 ($4 for seniors and students). The school is 7119 state Route 7.

Columbus is tapped for ‘Scooby’ movie

Warner Bros. brought in Chris Columbus as creative producer on the new “Scooby-Doo” animated movie.

Columbus, a native of Champion, Ohio, is a film director, writer and producer whose work includes “Home Alone,” “Mrs. Doubtfire,” “Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone” and “Gremlins.”

According to Variety, the studio reportedly wants to give its Hanna-Barbera properties as much attention as its DC and Harry Potter projects.

The Scooby-Doo movie is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2020.
