Library to host book discussion group

David Grann’s book, “Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the F.B.I.,” is the book selection for the Tuesday Adult Book Discussion Group which begins at 7 p.m. in the library’s Adult Reading Area. Mr. Grann has written a non-fiction book investigating a series of murders of wealthy Osage Nation people in 1920’s Oklahoma. Copies are available at the library, 821 E. Library to host bat program

The public is invited to join Mike Mainhart, Ohio Department of Natural Resources naturalist, in the Quaker Room at Salem Public Library on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. for “Bats – Friend or Foe?” Mainhart will provide instructions on how to make a bat house. This family-friendly program is brought to the community through the partnership of Salem Parks and Recreation Department and Salem Public Library. Society to host tours Oct. 27

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will host “History to Go: Oak Hill Cemetery Tours” from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at 344 Oak Hill Ave. A donation of $5 is appreciated and parking is available within the cemetery.

Historical society to host ‘Spooktacular’

The Recipes of Youngstown group from Facebook will host a fall tasting event to honor our armed forces and promote the group’s third cookbook from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 27 at St. Anthony’s of Padua, 31155 Turin St., in Brier Hill. Admission is free and tasting tickets are six for $5. There will be raffle baskets, activities for children and takeout containers available for purchase.
