Phantoms’ late goals not enough vs. Black Hawks
Staff Report
YOUNGSTOWN
The Youngstown Phantoms scored three goals in the third period, but it wasn’t enough in a 5-3 loss to the Waterloo Black Hawks.
Ansenii Smekhnov, Connor MacEachern and Roman Kraemer each picked up a power play goal for Youngstown, who were sparked by a scrum after Waterloo’s Brock Paul hit Dalton Messina high. Waterloo had a 3-0 lead heading into the third period and goals from Vladislav Firstov and Matt Koopman kept the Black Hawks ahead.
Justin Evenson made 18 saves in defeat.
