Mineral Ridge coach will not return
MINERAL RIDGE
Steve Wyllie, Mineral Ridge head football coach, will not return to his position.
According to Mineral Ridge Superintendent Damon Dohar, Wyllie is on sick leave and will retire if the option is available.
“He has some medical issues that he has to address with himself,” Dohar said Tuesday. “He’s planning on going on disability/retirement if it is available to him.”
Wyllie, who teaches at the high school, was placed on administrative leave on Sept. 20 for a “personal matter” and hasn’t coached or taught at the school since.
Assistant coach Andy Apisa was named the interim head coach on the same day.
Wyllie was 6-8 in 14 games as the Rams’ head coach.
