Man arrested for menacing had gun and ammo in car, police say

YOUNGSTOWN

Reports said a man arrested for aggravated menacing Tuesday, after crashing a car he was driving in a yard on the East Side while chasing a woman, had a 9mm handgun and 49 rounds of ammunition in the car.

Eric Barcley, 23, of Martin Luther King Boulevard, also has a valid concealed carry permit, reports said. He is expected to be arraigned today in municipal court.

Police said they found the car about 3:25 p.m. in the yard of a home in the 200 block of Byron Street. A woman who lives there told police Barcley had been following her and pointed a gun and threatened her before crashing.

Barcley was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, where he threatened to harm himself, reports said. He was taken to the jail and placed on suicide watch, reports said.

Police took the gun and ammunition for safekeeping, reports said.
