UPDATE | Girard officially rejects SAFER grant in letter

GIRARD — City officials wrote a letter of rejection to the Federal Emergency Management Agency regarding the $280,000 SAFER grant that would have increased the fire department's staffing levels.

The grant was awarded by FEMA in September to add three firefighters to the staff.

FEMA received the letter, but has not officially marked the letter as rejected.
