Mr. and Mrs. David Coleman celebrated their 50th anniversary by renewing their vows during a ceremony that took place Aug. 8 at World Fellowship Interdenominational Church. The Colemans also were honored at a celebration at the Mahoning Country Club.

The ceremony was hosted by the couple’s children: Andrea (Shawn) Stanford of Youngstown, Marcus (Shannon) Coleman of Houston, Kendall (Jamilia) Coleman and Allen Coleman, all of Columbus, and David (Kathy) Coleman of Pittsburgh. Thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren complete their family.

Mr. Coleman married the former Mary Terrell on Aug. 24, 1968, in Pittsburgh.

Mrs. Coleman retired from the Youngstown City School System in 2004 and also worked at the Ursuline Motherhouse and Briarfield Manor Retirement Home. She is a member of the Missionary Society at World Fellowship Church and serves as a deaconess and Sunday School secretary.

Mr. Coleman worked at General Motors Lordstown for 35 years until he retired in 2004. He coached football for the Struthers Lil Hardhats and Uptown Kiwanis and was head coach for St. Patrick’s girls basketball team. He also is a veteran of the Vietnam War.

The couple are members of World Fellowship Interdenominational Church.

Mr. and Mrs. Coleman spent a week in Las Vegas and a few days in Niagara Falls for a second honeymoon. A cruise is being planned for later this year as a gift from their children.
