Lecture on Poles in the Valley

Aundrea Cika Heschmeyer of Polish Youngstown will lecture on “The History and Heritage of the Polish Community” at noon Thursday at the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., downtown.

Poles began emigrating to the Mahoning Valley in the 1890s to work in mills, and have contributed to the culture and history of the Valley in many ways. Heschemeyer will discuss notable Polish citizens, churches and community culture. Her lecture is part of the Mahoning Valley Historical Society’s Bites and Bits of History series.
