MSU’s L.J. Scott cited for traffic violations

Michigan State running back L.J. Scott received another traffic violation.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the Hubbard graduate was cited by Meridian Township Police on Sept. 29 for making an improper turn, operating a vehicle without a valid plate and driving without proof of insurance. The violations were detailed in 55th District Court records.

Scott was arrested Oct. 18, 2017 and charged in East Lansing’s 54B District Court with his seventh infraction of driving on a suspended license. He reached a plea agreement in that case and received a ticket for an equipment violation, as well as $115 fine and other costs. He also received a six-month deferred statement, which expired in May, that required him to have a clean driving record.

According to the Lansing State Journal and online court records last year, Scott also was charged for driving without a license or on a suspended license at least six other times in Ohio and Michigan since 2016.

The senior dressed but didn’t play against Central Michigan. Scott has missed the Spartans’ last three games after suffering an ankle injury Sept. 8 at Arizona State.

Attorney: Ronaldo rape documents fabricated

LAS VEGAS

Cristiano Ronaldo’s new Las Vegas lawyer says claims that the soccer star raped a woman are “complete fabrications” and the encounter was consensual.

Attorney Peter S. Christiansen on Wednesday issued a statement that doesn’t deny Ronaldo and the woman reached a non-disclosure agreement in 2010.

The statement declared that documents cited in media reports about Ronaldo’s Las Vegas hotel penthouse encounter in 2009 with Kathryn Mayorga were altered before being “irresponsibly published.”

Mayorga’s attorneys did not immediately respond to messages.

A lawsuit filed Sept. 27 in Nevada state court seeks to void the non-disclosure agreement that Mayorga’s attorneys say she signed while accepting $375,000 to keep quiet.

Las Vegas police say they have reopened a sexual assault investigation of the encounter between Ronaldo and Mayorga.
