Ohio man awaiting trial in grandson’s fatal shooting dies

OAKWOOD, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a 73-year-old man charged with fatally shooting his teenage grandson in May has died.

The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office didn’t release a cause of death for William Miller II who died Tuesday.

The sheriff’s office says Miller had been in a psychiatric hospital before he was transferred to a hospital in Toledo last month because of other health issues.

Miller was arrested in May after investigators found 19-year-old Evan Holcombe dead inside an Oakwood home they shared. Authorities didn’t release a motive in the shooting. Court records don’t show an attorney for Miller.

Oakwood is roughly 75 miles south of Toledo.
