Hannon to speak to Curbstoners
Beaver Township
Bob Hannon, the radio voice of Youngstown State University football, will be the guest speaker at Monday’s luncheon meeting of The Curbstone Coaches at the
Avion Banquet Center on Western Reserve Road.
The event begins at noon and the public is welcome to attend.
Applications are being accepted for nominations for the 2019 Hall of Fame Class that will be inducted on May 5. For an application to nominate, call

East’s Vincent Steele kicked a 22-yard field goal and an extra point in Friday’s 10-0 victory over Poland. Those points were incorrectly credited in Saturday’s edition.
YSU cross country wins Disney Classic
Orlando, Fla.
The Youngstown State women’s cross country posted five top-14 finishes en route to winning the 2018 Disney World Cross Country Classic at the Wide World of Sports Complex.
Freshman Maggie Sebest paced the Penguins with a seventh-place finish with a time of 18:44.81 and sophomore Natalie Fleming recorded a time of 18:50.06 to finish in ninth place.
Senior Jennifer Muhlenkamp came in 12th place with a time of 18:57.54 while freshman Mackenzie Scott posted a time of 19:00.96 and placed 13th. Sophomore Nicole Squatrito finished with a time of 19:03.18 for a 14th-place finish.
Freshman Casey Zaitzew recorded a time of 19:25.29 and Morgan Buckley ran a 19:47.14.
The Penguins are back in action at the Canisius Alumni Open, Saturday in Buffalo, N.Y.
YSU soccer plays Oakland to draw
Youngstown
The Youngstown State women’s soccer played to a 0-0 tie with Oakland on Saturday at Farmers National Bank Field in the Covelli Sports Complex. Sophomore goalkeeper Kate McEachern recorded five saves for the game.
Oakland (1-9-3, 1-1-3 Horizon League) had a chance to win the game late in regular time when Sydnye Gagner hit the post on a shot in the 85th minute. YSU (1-10-3, 0-4-1 HL) had their chance in the first overtime period when Isabella Futchi headed a Lauren Snow cross into the arms of the Oakland goalkeeper in the 95th minute.
The Penguins travel to UIC on Saturday to face the Flames at 8 p.m. from Flames Field.
Cavaliers top Celtics in preseason game

Ante Zizic scored 20 points on 7-of-8 shooting and Collin Sexton had 13 points for Cleveland.
Sexton made 4 of 6 from the field, including 2 of 2 from 3-point range and Jordan Clarkson added 12 points, six rebounds and three assists in 14 minutes. Larry Nance Jr. had 10 points for Cleveland (2-0).
Marcus Morris and Terry Rozier scored 17 points apiece for Boston and Al Horford finished with 10 points and seven assists in 21 minutes.
Isaiah Taylor, who signed with the Cavs last month, had eight points, three assists, three steals and a block in 17 minutes.
Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum each scored eight points while combining to shoot just 7 of 22 from the field.
Taider’s goal, 2 assists lead Impact over Crew
MONTREAL
Saphir Taider scored on a penalty kick and had assists to help the Montreal Impact beat the Columbus Crew 3-0 on Saturday.
Alejandro Silva and Ignacio Piatti also scored, and Evan Bush made nine saves for his ninth shutout of the season. The Impact (13-15-4) remained alive in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
Columbus (13-10-9) remained fourth in the East, need one point in its last two matches to secure a playoff spot.
