Xathon Cross caught two passes for 85 yards and a score while Chase Frankin caught a 60-yard touchdown and carried the ball three times for 68 yards and a score. Troy Carter threw two touchdown passes for the Tigers (2-5). He completed 11 of 20 attempts for 153 yards.

Jeff Remmick, Joe Gomez and Vinnie Rienzi scored for the Bulldogs. Seth Dunn and Hunter Miller made assists while goalkeeper Chris Altier made one save. For the Golden Flashes, Garrett Mahon scored on an assist by Mason McKinney and Andrew Russell made 12 saves. JV: Lakeview, 4-2.

CROSS COUNTRY

The Poland Cross Country teams competed in Slippery Rock University’s Bill Lennox Invitational in Slippery Rock, Pa. The girls team finished runner-up with 84 points and were led by Gianna Stanich (4th, 20:34), Halle Sebest (9th, 21:17), Haley Trolio (25th, 22:51), Ella Harrell (28th, 23:04) and Sydney Norris (33rd, 23:14). Pine Richland won with 49 points. Poland’s boys team placed ninth of 15 teams with 258 points. Butler won with 38 points. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Tony Gallo (24th, 19:21), Jet Bailey (56th, 20:26), Andrew Biggs (61st, 20:34), Dante Parente (70th, 20:58) and Geno Gallo (74th, 21:08).

DIVISION I

CANTON

Four Canfield tennis players and one from Boardman have advanced to this week’s Division I district tournament. Canfield’s top-seeded doubles team of Sydney Cianciola and Cece Economus defeat the North Canton Hoover team of Hallie Hunt and Katie Harcourt, 6-4, 6-3. Two Massillon Jackson teams finished third and fourth to advance. In Saturday’s semifinals, Cianciola-Economus defeated Jackson’s Jillian Cardi-Mrissa Schoeppner, 6-2, 6-3. In singles play, Hoover’s top-seeded Laurel Utterback defeated Canfield’s second-seeded Anna Kan, 6-2, 6-2, to win the tournament. In the third-place match, Boardman’s Ava Valko defeated fourth-seeded Kate Ross of Canfield, 6-3, 6-2. In the semifinals, Utterback defeated Ross (6-2, 6-2) and Kan defeated Valko (6-2, 6-0).

BOARDMAN

Five Ursuline tennis players are advancing to the district tournament after Saturday’s competition at Boardman Tennis Center. The Irish team of Vy Hoang-Lexie Tsudis defeated Warren JFK’s Sophia Zamarelli-Caitlin Condoleon, 6-3, 6-4, to earn the top seed. Ursuline’s Anna Morgione-Emma Thornton defeated Struthers’ Trinity Farrar-Renee Leonard, 6-3, 6-2, for the third seed. In the sectional semifinals, Hoang-Tsudis defeated Farrar-Leonard, 6-1, 6-2, and Zamarelli-Condoleon defeated Morgione-Thornton, 6-4, 6-1. In singles, Warren JFK’s Kaytlin Marlatt has the top seed after defeating Lakeview’s Laura Garvin, 6-0, 6-0. Warren JFK’s Paras Kontos defeated Ursuline’s Lanna Dellick, 6-4, 6-1. In the semifinals, Marlatt defeated Dellick, 6-1, 6-2, and Garvin defeated Kontos, 6-0, 7-6 (1).
