Haefke earns HOF induction

Teri Haefke, Marilyn Heaven and Rachael Lepor will be honored today during the Youngstown-Salem USBC Women’s Bowling Association’s 42nd annual Hall of Fame induction.

The festivities will take place at A La Cart, 429 Lisbon St.. The doors open at 4 p.m. Dinner begins at 5 p.m.

Haefke is being inducted into the organization’s Hall of Fame. She is a 16-year member of the Youngstown Women’s Bowling Association and has a season-best 242 average, an 853 series and 65 300 games. She has won seven state championships, including team actual, doubles actual, all-event actual (twice) and Ohio USBC WBA Queens three times.

Haefke was a member of the Ohio USBC WBA All-Stars for three years and was the organization’s bowler of the year in 2012. She is also a past winner of the Youngstown WBA Masters and Warren Women’s Masters tournaments and the first back-to-back winner of the Summit County Queens in 2011-12.

Haefke has won numerous City Tournaments in actual and handicap events in singles, doubles, team and all-events actual.

With teammates Tammy Haefke and Jennifer Gossett, Teri Haefke earned national recognition for the highest team scores in three games with 2,211 pins and highest team single game with 782, with Gossett and Erin Whitehouse the same year.

Teri Haefke was the Professional Women’s Bowling Association Regional Rookie of the Year in 2000. She has won or placed in numerous PWBA tournaments.

She was inducted into the Ohio State USBC Women’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 2016.

This year, she placed second in the Ohio WBA Queens Tournament.

She also coached the Austintown Fitch High School bowling team to a state championship in 2001-02.

Heaven will be honored as the Secretary of the Year and Lepor for having the highest average (230) and rolling two 300 games this season.
