RAVENNA
Poland senior Alex Rapp qualified for the Division II boys golf state tournament by shooting a 74 to win Tuesday’s district tournament at Windmill Lakes.
Rapp tied with Edgewood’s Dylan Fitchet and Hawken’s Jack Grole, then won the three-way playoff to finish as tournament medalist.
NDCL won the tournament with a 311. Hawken and CVCA were next with 314 and 332 to qualify for next week’s state tournament Ohio State University.
With 333, Poland finished fourth and just missed qualifying as a team. The top three teams and top three individuals not on qualifying teams go to state.
Also for Poland, Luke Nord shot an 84, Jake Snyder an 86 and Kyle Koziel an 89.
South Range was sixth with 339. Kaiden Sykes and Gavin Batdorff both shot 84s for the Raiders while Nick Fromel had an 85 and Pat Kennedy an 86.
With 350, Ursuline was eighth. Seamus Chrystal shot a 79 to lead the Irish. He missed qualifying as an individual by one stroke as Rapp, Fitchet and Waynedale’s Dyland Ledford (78) are the individual qualifiers.
Also for the Irish, Alex Stoneman shot 82, Ethan Sicafuse an 86 and Joey Brooks a 103.
West Branch was ninth with 358. Brett Blickensderfer led the Warriors with 87, followed by Nick Pidgeon (88), Aiden Wiesemann (90) and Reese Leone (93).
Cardinal Mooney finished 12th with 383. Keegan Butler led with 83, followed by David Varley (97), Stephen VanSuch (101) and Aaron Pepperney (102).
Girard’s Dominic Malito shot a 103.
