The Holy Cross Orthodox Church, 950 Maple Drive, will host the Orthodox Clergy Brotherhood of the Shenango Valley’s Retreat for the Nativity Fast at 9 a.m. Saturday. The program will feature Presbytera Melanie DiStefano speaking on “Orthodox Teaching on the Full Personhood of Man from Conception.” Refreshments and lunch will be provided. Following lunch, Vespers will be offered. A $10 donation for admission is requested.
Church to host celebration

Church Women United will host the 13th annual Human Rights Celebration at 9 a.m. Dec. 8 at New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St. The theme will be “Reaching for Wholesome Solidarity with God’s Creation.” The Rev. Kenneth Simon will be honored for his contributions in addressing community problems involving human rights. Doors open at 8:45 a.m., breakfast will be offered at 9 and the program will begin at 10. Club to host Wigilia

Polish Arts Club of Youngstown invites the public to Wigilia, a Polish Christmas Celebration, from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Holy Apostles Parish Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 421 Covington St. Wigilia literally means “vigil” or “waiting” for the birth of Jesus. The event will include cocktails, dinner, a 50-50 and basket raffle, sharing of Op≈Çatek and singing. Cost is $30 per person for adults, $10 for children age 5 to 12 and free for those under 4. Reservations are mandatory and space is limited. There will be no tickets sold at the door. Craft fair will take place Saturday
NEW WATERFORD
Abundant Life Fellowship, 46469 state Route 46, will host its second annual Christmas in the Village craft fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, in the fellowship hall. Proceeds benefit the local 4C’s Food Pantry and local artisans and business people. The pantry is an affiliate of the Second Harvest Food Bank and operates from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Wednesday.
There will be hamburgers, hot dogs and fries available for purchase and a local photographer will take pictures with Santa. The New Waterford Christmas Parade will take place at 4 p.m., with cookies and a party with Santa to follow.
