Orchestras offer free concerts

Two area orchestras will present free holiday concerts this weekend.

The Packard Band will present “Christmas Spectacular” at 2 p.m. Sunday at Packard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Ave., Warren. Jesse Leyva is the conductor, and Dana Victor will be the vocal soloist.

Bradley J. Holko will be master of ceremonies of the concert, which will include participants from area dance studios, the Seaborn Bucketeers, and Santa and Mrs. Claus with treats for children.

In addition, the Big Band Sound of Packard will present a swing concert at 2 p.m. Dec. 9, with vocalist Helen Welch.

The Westminster College Symphony Orchestra and the School of Music will present its annual Christmas Pops! concert at 3 p.m. Sunday in Orr Auditorium, on the New Wilmington, Pa., campus.

Students will be joined by community musicians and Westminster faculty and staff members in the concert.
