Lost bedazzled pigeon is reunited with owners

PEORIA, Ariz.

A pigeon that had flown the coop with only its bedazzled vest is nesting back home in Phoenix.

The Arizona Republic reports Marlette Fernando and her husband were reunited Nov. 20 with their pet pigeon Olive.

The bird was brought to the Fallen Feathers bird rescue center in Peoria.

Center director Jody Kieran says she knew the pigeon had to be someone’s feathered friend when she saw the rhinestone-studded vest.

The organization posted a picture of the bird and the vest on Facebook.

Fernando says a friend saw the post. She says Olive went missing from their home Nov. 7.

Fallen Feathers had planned to put the bird up for adoption if nobody came forward after one month.

Yorkshire Terrier, 19, retires from ‘The Nutcracker’

PROVIDENCE, R.I.

After more than 125 performances in “The Nutcracker” in Rhode Island, a 19-year-old Yorkshire terrier named Archie is leaving the stage.

Festival Ballet Providence announced last week that its beloved “Nutcracker” dog is retiring.

The ballet says Archie achieved stardom in his annual romp across the Providence Performing Arts Center stage and is ready for the next chapter.

Misha Djuric, the ballet’s artistic director and Archie’s owner, says Archie is “settling down to a life of luxury and long naps on pillows.”

The ballet is holding auditions for the next “Nutcracker” dog. Auditions will take place at the Festival Ballet Providence studios on Hope Street in Providence on Dec. 2.

The ballet says it’s looking for a pup with an elegant prance, regal coat of fur and charming smile.

Police: Bullet-ridden NYPD car on road is a stolen movie prop

PHILADELPHIA

Philadelphia police say they were startled to spot a bullet-ridden New York City police cruiser with a broken windshield on a city expressway early Thanksgiving morning.

Police say they tried to stop the car only to have the driver flee.

They say the cruiser was later found abandoned and proved to be a stolen prop from a movie being shot in Philadelphia.

The car had been used for the police drama, “17 Bridges,” which stars Black Panther’s Chadwick Boseman and Sienna Miller. Filming’s been under way in the area since September.

Police say the car was stolen just west of Philadelphia, in Chester County. They said no arrests had been made.
