FOOD SALES AND DINNERS


THURSDAY

Christ Our Savior Parish at Holy Trinity Church, 250 N. Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. The cost is $6 a dozen. There is a limit of three dozen cabbage pirogi while supplies last. Orders will be taken from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Friday at 330-755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided. The last day of pirogi sales will be Dec. 21. Sales will resume February 2019.

Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., will take orders for fresh potato and potato with kraut pirogi for $6 per dozen. No containers are necessary. Orders should be placed from 9 to 11 a.m. or until sold out Thursday and at 10:30 a.m. Friday, if available, by calling 330-746-9528. Pick up will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Lunches also will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.

St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will sell pirogi Thursday from 8 to 11. Call in orders to 330-755-1316 starting at 8 a.m. Friday. Choose potato, kraut or prune pirogi at $6 per dozen. Pickup will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday.

St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main St., New Middletown, will have a pirogi sale. The cost is $6 per dozen. Potato, cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi are available. Phone orders will be taken from 8 to 10 a.m. Thursday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday. Call 330-542-3525 to order. Pick up will take place from noon to 2 p.m. Friday.

St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, is selling potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi. Advance orders will be taken at 330-747-3024 from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $7 per dozen. Pirogi lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Walk-in orders are welcome.

VFW Col. Louis J. Campbell Post 3538, 157 Lowellville Road, Struthers, will serve spaghetti dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. Meals include meatballs, salad, bread and butter and coffee. Cost is $7.50 for adults and $4 for children under 8. Carryout orders are $8 and will be available until 6 p.m. Containers will be provided.

FRIDAY

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. Cost is $11 for adults and $6 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.75. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. by calling 330-792-1005.

St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown, will be selling potato and cheese pirogi Friday. To order, call 330-799-0084 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Cost is $7 a dozen. No containers are necessary. Walk-ins are welcome. Use the side entrance.

SUNDAY

Immaculate Heart of Mary Knights of Columbus 3930 will sponsor a sausage and pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the parish center, 4500 Norquest Blvd., Austintown. The menu consists of sausage and a variety of all-you-can-eat pancakes and beverages. The cost for adults is $5 and $3 for children 12 and younger.

Pacentrano Club, 2629 Craiger Ave., is serving spaghetti dinners from noon to 4 p.m. every Sunday during football season. The dinners are $9 each for sit-down or takeout. For information or to place takeout orders, call 330-788-3393.

St. James the Apostle Church, 4019 U.S. state Route 422, Pulaski, Pa., will host John’s Breakfast Brunch from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Menu includes french toast, sweet cheese filling, buttermilk or buckwheat pancakes, with choice of maple or strawberry syrup, scrambled eggs, eggs scrambled with peppers, onions and cheese, home fries, bacon, sausage, ham, toast, cinnamon rolls, hot and cold cereals, coffee, tea, juice and milk. Cost is $9 for adults and $4 for children.

St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave., Youngstown, will sponsor its monthly Sauce and Song event with a spaghetti dinner and concert. The dinner will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the concert is set for 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Menu includes spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert and beverage. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children age 10 and under. Carryout will be available with containers provided. The concert is free and open to the community, but donations accepted. VFW 2799 Auxiliary will host a homestyle breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon at the post home, 3161 E. South Range Road, New Springfield. Menu includes eggs, hash browns, sausage or ham, pancakes, freedom toast, toast and coffee or tea. Cost is $6 for adults and $3.50 for children under 12.

Campbell “O” Club of St. John Orthodox Church, 301 Struthers Liberty Road, is taking orders for Christmas kolachi. Cost is $12, and flavors are apricot, cheese, lekvar and nut. First Presbyterian Church of Girard, 890 Churchill Road, is taking orders for stuffed pepper soup, stuffed cabbage soup and chicken noodle soup, homemade pepperoni rolls, fresh baked bread and homemade sticky buns. Cost for soup is $5 a quart or $3 a pint. Cost for pepperoni rolls is $8 for large and $2.50 for a single. Bread is $2 for a large loaf and $1.50 for a small loaf and sticky buns are 4 for $2.50. Holy Apostles Parish, Sts. Peter and Paul Croatian Church,421 Covington St., Youngstown, is taking orders for a stuffed cabbage carryout sale. Cost is $25 per dozen, packaged fresh in a foil pan ready to reheat or freeze. Pickup will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dec. 16 in the church social hall. Polish Youngstown is accepting orders for its 6th annual Sekacz Christmas Cake Sale. Originating in eastern Poland, sekacz cake contains 40 or 50 eggs and it is baked by pouring ladles full of batter onto a rotary spit in open oven or over a hot wood-burning fire. As the batter bakes, it forms what looks like branches. It is rotated over and over again for 10 hours. Polish Youngstown imports the cakes as a fundraiser and sells them during the holidays. Cost is: $15 for the 4 inch, approximately one pound cake, $30 for the 8-inch, approximately two pound cake and $60 for the 16-inch large, approximately four pound cake. Preordered and prepaid orders only. Delivery will take place on or around Dec. 15. The cakes can be shipped. Basic shipping costs will apply. Orders will be accepted through Friday. Bethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview Ave., Boardman, will host a “Cookie Walk and Craft Sale” from 9 to 11 a.m. or until sold out Dec. 15. Cost is $7 for one dozen homemade Christmas cookies. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the church’s charities.

First Congregational Church of Wayne Missionary Society will host its “Cookie Dash” from 11 a.m. until sold out Dec. 13 at the town hall, 3222 state Route 322, Williamsfield. Cost is $4.50 for one dozen assorted cookies.

Hungarian Cultural Center of Northeast Ohio is taking orders for stuffed cabbage. Cost is $20 per dozen (uncooked, recipe included).
