Youth orchestras in Powers concert

The Youngstown Symphony Youth Orchestra and Youngstown Symphony Symphonette will present their first concert of the season at 4 p.m. Sunday at Powers Auditorium, 260 W. Federal St., downtown. The concert will feature Youth Orchestra Senior Concerto Competition winner Gretchen Berendt, performing the first movement of Strauss’ Concerto No. 1 for French Horn.

Tree lighting event

The annual community tree lighting will take place at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Jackson Township gazebo, 10613 Mahoning Ave. Members of Gethsemane Lutheran Church Choir, the Jackson-Milton High School band and Boy Scouts are participating. Refreshments will be served by the Jackson Township Citizens Association.
