Two instructors at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Warren will perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade today.
Kyrylo Myshakov and Oksana Sidak are among 70 Fred Astaire instructors nationwide who have been selected for the honor and one of just two couples from Ohio.
The entire Fred Astaire contingent will march, with choreographed steps, the entire route. It will stop at Macy’s at Herald Square, where it will perform a tribute to Fred Astaire that will include some of his signature choreography. The performance theme will be the Golden Age of Hollywood, according to Lee Swinehart, a spokesman for the dance studio in Warren.
The parade will be televised from 9 a.m. to noon on NBC but the exact time of the Astaire performance has not been released.
Myshakov and Sidak are natives of Ukraine and are among the top competitors in the United States. The couple took fifth place in their division at the national dance championships, which took place in Orlando, Fla., in October.
The Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Warren is at 4365 Youngstown Road SE.
