Sheriff: Former Ohio corrections officer charged with bribery

HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) — A sheriff says a former corrections officer accused of bringing illegal items including cellphones into a jail in Ohio has been charged with bribery.

Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones said in a release Tuesday that former Corrections Officer Brandon Moore was arrested on the felony charge. The statement says a routine search conducted recently at the Butler County Correctional Facility in Hamilton where Moore was assigned turned up a cellphone and led to further investigation.

The sheriff says detectives determined Moore also brought in illegal items including miscellaneous tools and protein powder. Investigators say Moore was responsible for bringing items to inmates in exchange for money.

It couldn’t immediately be determined whether the 34-year-old Hamilton man has an attorney yet.

Hamilton is roughly 35 miles northwest of Cincinnati.
