Toledo 56, Kent State 34

KENT

Bryant Koback ran 17 times for 192 yards and two touchdowns, and Toledo became bowl eligible with a win over Kent State. The Rockets (6-5, 4-3 Mid-American Conference) scored four straight touchdowns to lead 49-17 on Eli Peters’ 55-yard touchdown pass to Jon’Vea Johnson with 10:06 left in the third quarter. The Golden Flashes (2-9, 1-6) answered with 10 points to cut the deficit to 22 but would get no closer. Art Thompkins added 122 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries for Toledo, which totaled 384 yards on the ground. Koback scored Toledo’s third straight touchdown in the first half on a 44-yard run to make it 21-7 with 13:03 left in the second quarter and made it 35-17 with 15-yard run early in the third quarter. Jo-El Shaw ran for 116 yards and a touchdown and Mike Carrigan caught seven passes for 110 yards and a score for Kent State.

Houston 48, Tulane 17

HOUSTON

Patrick Carr ran for a career-high 139 yards and two touchdowns as Houston rolled over Tulane. Houston (8-3, 5-2 American Athletic Conference) rebounded from its only home loss, 59-49, to Temple last week. The Cougars conclude their regular season at Memphis on Nov. 23. Tulane (5-6, 4-3) had its three-game win streak snapped. Carr broke loose for a 21-yard score and added a 3-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. D’Eriq King, who entered the game accounting for a nation’s-best 290 points and 35 touchdown passes, combined for 164 yards of offense with two touchdowns. He completed 11 of 15 passes for 82 yards and had 10 carries for another 82 yards. King threw an 11-yard TD pass to Romello Brooker and ran for a 3-yard score, each in the second quarter, to help the Cougars build a 31-9 halftime lead. Clayton Tune threw two touchdown passes in the second half for Houston. Darius Bradwell and Amare Jones had touchdown runs for Tulane, which had three interceptions and lost a fumble. Bradwell led the Green Wave with 89 yards rushing.

Northwestern State 35, Stephen F. Austin 23

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS

Shelton Eppler threw two touchdown passes to Jaylen Watson and Myles Ward had a 94-yard kickoff return for a score to help Northwestern State beat Stephen F. Austin. Eppler was 20 of 31 passing for 295 yards with three first-half interceptions and Watson finished with four receptions for 123 yards. Jared West had 20 carries for 98 yards and a score and Stadford Anderson added 88 yards rushing and a touchdown for Northwestern State (5-6, 4-5 Southland Conference). Anderson’s 1-yard TD run gave the Demons a 7-3 lead early in the second quarter but Tamrick Pace scored on a 71-yard catch-and-run 43 seconds later and Storm Ruiz kick field goals of 22 and 32 yards in the final 1:12 of the half to give Stephen F. Austin a nine-point lead at the break.

Nicholls 44, Southeast Louisiana 0

THIBODAUX, LA.

Julien Gums ran for 121 yards and two TDs in the River Bell Classic on Thursday night and Nicholls shut out Southeast Louisiana to clinch a share of the Southland Conference title. The Colonels (8-3, 7-2) finished the season tied with Incarnate Word (6-2) in the loss column and, with the edge in conference wins, Nicholls earned the Southland’s automatic bid to the FCS playoffs. Dontrell Taylor opened the scoring 62 seconds into the contest with a 14-yard TD run. Gums added a 2-yard run with 8 seconds left in the period and the Colonels led 13-0 after the missed PAT. Chase Fourcade threw for 128 yards and a touchdown and ran for 71 yards and two TDs. Fourcade scored on a 9-yard keeper early in the second quarter, threw a 10-yard TD pass to Gabe Fuselier in the third and scored on a 1-yard keeper on the first play of the fourth. Chason Virgil threw for 193 yards for the Lions (4-7, 4-5).
