THURSDAY

Christ Our Savior Parish at Holy Trinity Church, 250 N. Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. The cost is $6 a dozen. There is a limit of three dozen cabbage pirogi while supplies last. Orders will be taken from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Friday at 330-755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided.

Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., will resume pirogi sales after Thanksgiving.

St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will sell pirogi. Call in orders to 330-755-1316 from 8 to 11 a.m. today and beginning at 8 a.m. Thursday. Choose potato, kraut or prune pirogi at $6 per dozen. Pickup will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday.

St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main St., New Middletown, will have a pirogi sale. The cost is $6 per dozen. Potato, cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi are available. St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, is selling potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi. Advance orders will be taken at 330-747-3024 from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $7 per dozen. Pirogi lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Walk-in orders are welcome.

Woodworth Church of the Brethren, 30 E. Western Reserve Road, Poland, will host a creamed chicken and biscuits takeout only dinner from 2:30 to 6 p.m. or until sold out. FRIDAY

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. SATURDAY

Columbiana Area Meals on Wheels will host a baked potato luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Columbiana’s Firestone Park Pavilion 4. Cost is $8. Menu includes a baked potato with all the fixings, soup and salad. Participants can shop at local merchants during Christmas in Columbiana. Drive up or carryout available. Conroy’s Party Shop, 3518 South Ave., Youngstown, will host the fourth annual free community dinner from 1 to 5 p.m. The event will include free winter coats, hats and gloves. Music will be provided by DJ Ira Cross. Hosted by ICU Blockwatch Group.

Struthers Girls Basketball Booster Club is organizing its first fundraiser for the Struthers Girls Basketball program. There will be a spaghetti dinner from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Struthers Parkside Church, 110 Poland Ave. The SGBB is continuing this tradition to help the program raise funds to attend competitive camps, make improvements to facilities, have better equipment for players and fund long-term capital improvements. Players, coaches and booster club members will prepare and serve the meal, and takeout will be available. Cost is $8, and the menu includes pasta, bread, salad and a dessert. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door. There also will be a 50-50 raffle and a basket raffle.

First Presbyterian Church of Girard, 890 Churchill Road, will be selling potato, broccoli-cheese and chicken noodle soups; homemade pepperoni rolls; fresh-baked bread; and homemade sticky buns. Soup is $5 per quart and $3 per pint. Pepperoni rolls are $8 for a large and $2.50 for a single. Bread is $2 for a large loaf and $1.50 a for a small loaf. Sticky buns are four for $2.50. Polish Youngstown is accepting orders for its 6th annual Sekacz Christmas Cake Sale. Originating in eastern Poland, sekacz cake contains 40 or 50 eggs and it is baked by pouring ladles full of batter onto a rotary spit in an open oven or over a hot wood-burning fire. As the batter bakes, it forms what look like branches. It is rotated continuously for 10 hours. Polish Youngstown imports the cakes as a fundraiser and sells them during the holidays. They are able to procure the cakes from the few bakeries in the United States that make them. Cost is: $15 for the 4-inch, approximately 1-pound cake, $30 for the 8-inch, approximately 2-pound cake and $60 for the 16-inch large, approximately 4-pound cake. Cakes must be preordered and prepaid. Delivery will be on or around Dec. 15. The cakes can be shipped. Basic shipping costs will apply. Orders will be accepted through Nov. 30. Aut Mori Grotto will host its monthly pancake and sausage breakfast Nov. 24 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Aut Mori Grotto Banquet Hall, 563 North Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown. The menu includes link sausage, eggs, home fried potatoes, sausage gravy and biscuits, orange juice, all-you-can-eat pancakes and coffee. Aut Mori Grotto is a member of the Grottoes of North America and is a nonprofit organization comprised of master Masons.
