Crestview’s Perry to sign with YSU track

Crestview’s Dominic Perry will sign his National Letter of Intent with Youngstown State Track. The signing will take place at Crestview High School today at 11:15 a.m.

Perry won the Division III district, regional and state title in the shot put during the 2018 season. He threw a personal-best and school-record 59-4 at the All-American Conference championships.

Corrections

Springfield running back Luke Snyder was selected to the Division VI First Team for the all-Northeast Ohio district team. His name was omitted from a story in Tuesday’s edition.

The name of Struthers offensive lineman Jake Vlosich was spelled incorrectly. An incorrect spelling was provided to The Vindicator.

College Football Playoff rankings remain same

The College Football Playoff rankings held steady at the top, with Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame and Michigan an unchanged first four from last week.

The third rankings of the season were drama-free Tuesday night after every top-10 team won last weekend. In fact, the selection committee’s entire top 10 stayed the same, the first time that has happened in the five seasons since the CFP was born.

With three weekends left until the final selections are made on Dec. 2, Georgia was fifth and Oklahoma was sixth. LSU, Washington State, West Virginia and Ohio State rounded out the top 10.

UCF moved up one spot to No. 11 and remained the highest-ranked team from outside the Power Five conferences. The Knights on Saturday play Cincinnati, which is ranked or the first time by the selection committee this season at No. 24.

John Carroll to host first-round playoff game

The John Carroll football team will host a playoff game for the fourth time in program history.

The Blue Streaks (9-1) will play Randolph-Macon (8-2) on Saturday at Don Shula Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.

The winner of John Carroll and Randolph Macon on Saturday, will play Delaware Valley or Muhlenberg at a site to be determined on Nov. 24.

Westminster, Grove City to host ECAC bowls

The Grove City College football team will host Morrisville State (N.Y.) in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III James Lynah Bowl. Kickoff will be Saturday at Robert E. Thorn Field will be 1 p.m.

Westminster will also compete in an ECAC Bowl game for the third time in program history.

The Wolverines (7-3) will play in a postseason game for the first time in 21 years, concluding their best season since 1997.

The Titans (7-3) will host Wesley College Saturday in the Clayton Chapman Bowl at noon.

Blume resigns as head coach of Thiel football

GREENVILLE, Pa.

Thiel College Director of Athletics Amy Schafer announced the resignation Tuesday of head football coach Dan Blume.

Blume coached the Tomcats for three seasons, compiling a record of 5-25. He led Thiel to a 4-6 record during his first season as head coach in 2016. The Bobcats went 0-10 this season.

A national search for a new head football coach will begin immediately.

Premier League hires Dinnage as CEO

LONDON

The English Premier League says it has hired Discovery broadcasting executive Susanna Dinnage to succeed Richard Scudamore in running the world’s richest soccer competition.

Dinnage will leave her role as global president of Discovery’s Animal Planet brand to become chief executive of the English top-flight in early 2019.

Scudamore was CEO from 1999 to 2014 when he was promoted to executive chairman. The new structure will see the league have a separate CEO and chairman again.
