Jack Loew’s South Side Boxing Club will stage a professional nine-bout card on Nov. 21 at St. Lucy’s Palermo Banquet Center, 394 Tenney Ave.

The card will feature fighters from Loew’s gym, Burnside A.C. and Downtown Boxing Club.

“The key to this card is that there aren’t any headliners,” Loew said. “It’s a bunch of evenly matched bouts and every boxer will have to be at their best because their hands will be full.

“When you do pro shows you try to build boxers records, but such is not the case here because all are very competitive fights.”

Featured will be the return of cruiserweight Darnell “Deezol” Boone (24-24-4, 13 KOs), a Youngtown native who hasn’t fought locally in 11 years. He’ll take on Brooklyn’s Lamont Capers (9-13-4, KO).

Boone is 5-3 in his last eight fights. His last fight was on Aug. 19, 2017, a win by TKO over Jorge Alfredo Leal of Mexico.

“Darnell is one of those world travelers who will fight anyone, anywhere and anytime,” Loew said. “I was with him for eight years and vividly remember when he had Andre Ward on the canvas in the fourth round at Portland’s Rose Garden in 2005.

“He definitely brings worldly experience to our show.”

Warren’s Danny Rosenberger (4-5-3, KO) of Downtown Boxing Club is coming off a TKO win over Erik Plumeri on Sept. 2. He will meet Roque Zapata (5-2-4) of Panama City in a super welterweight clash.

“We’ve been training hard, boxing and sparring with a handful of guys at Tommy Yankello’s World Class Gym in Pittsburgh. We are ready to go,” trainer Tom Cordell said.

Heavyweights Danny Infante and Mel Rodriguez of Burnside A.C. will make their professional debuts with Infante going up against Vincent Hadley and Rodriquez taking on Davmond Carter.

“Danny has 28 amateur fights under his belt, has worked hard and cannot wait to get into the ring,” trainer Keith Burnside said. “He has an excellent right hand, good hook and is nice and slick in the ring.

“Rodriguez has 10 amateur fights under his belt, has quick hands and is quick on his feet,” Burnside said.

Lightweight Vinnie O’Neill, 39, has been with Loew since he was 15. He’ll return to the ring for the first time in almost four years.

He’s 3-1 in his last four fights but lost a unanimous decision to Angel Figueroa on April 1, 2015.

“Since becoming an amateur coach, it’s important to set an example for my fighters,” O’Neill said. “That last fight wasn’t me because I didn’t train like I ordinarily do. I’m ready now and cannot wait to get back into the ring.”

Super welterweight Vic Toney (5-1, 4 KO’s) started his professional career with five straight wins but comes in having lost a unanimous decision to Sebastian Fundora 14 months ago in Las Vegas. He will meet Fred Wilson Jr. (6-0-1, 2 KO’s) of Cleveland.

Youngstown police officer Anthony Congemi, a former Marine and heavyweight, will make his pro debut when he battles Robert Taylor (0-2) of Warren, Mich. Ticket prices are $25 for general admission and $50 for ringside. Further information may be obtained by calling Loew at 330-501-5713.
