Museum to host Christmas program

SALEM

Charles Burchfield, watercolorist, spent his childhood and early adult years in Salem. From his bedroom window at his boyhood home at 867 East Fourth St., he sketched and painted. Each year, the staff at Burchfield’s home celebrates his vision with an array of Christmas trees inspired by his work. The annual show is coupled the first weekend with a collection of trains belonging to attorney Frederick E. Naragon. Guests to that exhibit are asked to enter the back of the building on Sugar Tree Alley. The cost of admission for both events is $3 for adults. Children are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. The combined Trees and Trains show will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The trees-only show will run Nov. 24 and 25 from 1 to 4 p.m. The same weekend hours will be maintained through the month of December. Special tours and group tours may be arranged by contacting Janis Yereb at 330-482-2305 or 330-717-0092.

New this year is a collection of Burchfield-inspired Christmas ornaments. They are priced at $3.50 each or three for $10.
