Tri-Gold Prime Time Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association will meet Wednesday at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St., Canfield. Youngstown Section of the National Council of Negro Women has rescheduled this month’s meeting to Nov. 17. The meeting will take place at the McGuffey Centre, 1649 Jacobs Road in Youngstown. The Executive Board will meet at noon, and the general meeting will convene at 1 p.m.

Western Reserve Knitting Guild will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday for a potluck dinner at the Rotary Community Building, Fair Park in Canfield. Members are to take a favorite dish to share, and the guild will provide drinks, plates and utensils. For this month’s program, a one-button cowl, members will need a skein of worsted or dk yarn and the appropriate needles. The guild will provide the pattern. Members will be learning the German Twisted Cast-On that begins the one button cowl. The highlight of the evening will be the first fundraiser of the year. Guild members and guests will have the opportunity to purchase a button for their cowl. The guild will be hosting a trunk show featuring Dimensions Raku Fired Clay. Poland Historical Society will meet at the Little Red Schoolhouse, 4515 Center Road, Poland, at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 20. Election of officers will take place. All officer positions are open. President Larry Baughman has indicated he is not seeking re-election, but will be available to help the new president get settled into the position. Vice president (Laurie Fox), secretary (Dave Smith), and treasurer (Joanne Eiselstein) are accepting nominations for each position to be voted on at the meeting. Nominations from the floor also will be accepted. November’s program “American Outhouses” will be presented by Ted Heineman at 7:30 p.m.
Salem Historical Society will meet Tuesday. Following a short business meeting at 7 p.m., the program will take place in the meeting room of the Dale Shaffer Library. The meeting will feature “The Day the Civil War Came to Our Backyard,” presented by Alice Whitehill. Whitehill is a volunteer with the Friends of Beaver Creek State Park. She will discuss the trail of Confederate Brig. Gen. John Morgan, who led a 1,000-mile raid up the Ohio River, deep into Union territory. The meeting is open to the public. Entrance is off South Lundy with parking in the Timberlane’s parking lot. Guests and members will be greeted by Judy White. NAMI Mahoning Valley also offers Family Support Groups that provide information and support for family members and friends of individuals with mental illness. Youngstown Area PFLAG will have its monthly support meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., Youngstown. Youngstown Area PFLAG (Parents, Families, Friends, and Allies) is a support, education and advocacy group united with LGBT people to move equality forward. Support meetings are the second Tuesday of each month. PFLAG provides the opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity and strives to create a society respectful of human diversity. Meetings are free and confidential. Salem Regional Medical Center will host a support group for area residents who have an ostomy as well as those who are preparing for ostomy placement. The group’s next monthly meeting will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday in SRMC’s private dining room at the back of the cafeteria on the hospital’s ground floor. The group is led by SRMC’s Certified Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse, and offers education, encouragement and emotional support for people with any type of ostomy. Meetings also address some of the common concerns faced by people with ostomies. The group meets one Monday a month, and there is no cost. Family members and caregivers are welcome.
