Holy Apostles Roman Catholic Parish SS. Peter & Paul Croatian Church, 421 Covington St., will host a chicken francaise dinner featuring Croatian chicken noodle soup from noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 18.

Dinner includes chicken, mashed potatoes, salad, vegetable, bread, a bowl of chicken noodle soup, dessert, water, coffee and hot tea. Beverages will be available for purchase. Cost is $12 for adults, $6 for children 12 and under. Additional soup bowls will be available for $1. There also will be a bake sale with all homemade goods. No tickets will be sold at the door. By reservation only. Tickets can be purchased after all Saturday and Sunday Masses or by calling Mary Rose at 330-743-1905. The last day to purchase tickets is Monday.

Historical society seeks volunteers for exhibit

YOUNGSTOWN

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society is seeking volunteers to help staff the Arms Family Museum during the Memories of Christmas Past exhibit. Set against the backdrop of the Arms Family Museum, the exhibit has become a holiday tradition for families throughout the Valley. Volunteers are needed to help welcome visitors and assist with activities and events. The exhibit will be open from Nov. 17 through Jan. 6. Volunteer shifts are available during the open hours of Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. with extended hours until 7 on Thursdays. Volunteers are asked to be able to commit to at least four shifts throughout the duration of the exhibit.

All volunteers must attend a training session Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon. All volunteers will receive vouchers for free admission to the exhibit. Call 330-743-2589 or email armsmuseum@mahoninghistory.org if interested in volunteering.

Shelter offers calendars

The Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County is selling Lottery Calendars for 2019. Calendar sales benefit victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and victims of other violent crimes. For 2019, there is a new format for the calendars. They will temporarily be sold for January only for a donation of $10. Purchase a ticket from the Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County this year, and participants will have a chance to win every day for the month of January. The winner is based on the first evening three-digit drawing of the Pennsylvania State Lottery. If the winning ticket is not sold, the winnings will roll to the next day.
