Oberlin 47, Hiram 44, 2OT

HIRAM

Melvin Briggs’ 4-yard touchdown in the second overtime gave the Yeomen (2-7, 2-6 North Coast Athletic Conference) a victory over the Terriors (2-7, 1-7). Hiram’s Isaiah Jones ran for a career-high 141 yards and four touchdowns in his final home game for the Terriers. One of Jones’ TDs, a 4-yarder, gave Hiram a 41-34 lead in the first OT. But Oberlin tied it on Thomas Jenkins’ 23-yard pass to Ryan Gleeson, the last of his three TD catches. Hiram’s Alex Warren made a 23-yard field to start the second OT, but the Terriers couldn’t keep Briggs out of the end zone. Briggs ran for 213 yards and two TDs on 18 carries.

Westminster 23, Carnegie Mellon 19

NEW WILMINGTON, PA.

Shannon Walker ran 27 yards for the go-ahead touchdown with 13 seconds to play and Bryce Thomas intercepted a Carnegie Mellon pass on the final play of the game to seal the victory for Westminster (6-3, 6-2 Presidents’ Athletic Conference). The Tartans fell to 4-4 and 3-4. Brookfield graduate Augustus Necastro threw a 75-yard touchdown pass to Bryson Paulinellie on the first play from scrimmage for Westminster. Paulinellie finished with siox catches for 122 yards and Westminster cornerback Vincent Giles returned an 92 yards for a touchdown. The interception was Giles’s first of his career. East graduate John Fitzgerald made 10 tackles, four tackles for loss had had 2 1/2 sacks and two QB hurries for the Titans.

Bethany 20, Thiel 0

GREENVILLE, PA.

Joseph Flasco ran for touchdowns of 1 and 3 yards and Dom Salinetro threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Darius Taylor as the Bison (4-5, 4-4 PAC) beat the Tomcats (0-9, 0-8). Bethany limited Thiel to 154 total yards and forced four turnovers.

Case Western Reserve 41, Waynesburg 17

CLEVELAND

Drew Saxton was 27 of 37 for 327 yards and five touchdowns as the Spartans (8-1, 7-1 PAC) beat the Yellow Jackets (4-5, 4-4). Saxton threw TD passes to five different receivers — Justin Phan, Joey Spitalli, Colt Morgan, Luke DiFrancesco and Kyle Turcovsky.

Washington & Jefferson 33, Saint Vincent 9

LATROBE, PA.

Jacob Adams was 24 of 35 for 205 yards and three touchdowns — two to Andrew Wolf — as the Presidents (8-1, 7-1 PAC) beat the Bearcats (1-8, 1-7). Wolf caught 12 passes for 128 yards.

Baldwin Wallace 48, Ohio Northern 41

BEREA

Quarterback Jake Hudson completed 20 of 29 passes for 266 yards and two touchdowns and wide receiver Matt Lowry led the ground attack out of the wildcat formation as he rushed for 92 yards on four carries with a touchdown for the Yellow Jackets (8-1, 7-1 Ohio Athletic Conference). Wideout Rob Wolfington had five catches for 136 yards and a touchdown. Baldwin Wallace improved to 30-13-1 in the all-time series against Ohio Northern (5-4, 4-4) and beat the Polar Bears for the first time since 2016. Ohio Northern’s Anthony McFadden who completed 26 of 44 for 392 yards and two touchdowns. Brock Martin led the rushing attack with 101 yards on 15 carries and three touchdowns. Chad Rex led the receivers with 173 yards on eight receptions and a touchdown.

John Carroll 27, Heidelberg

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS

Anthony Moeglin was 11 of 16 for 172 yards and two touchdowns, Michael Canganelli ran for 129 yards and a touchdown on 28 attempts and Josh DeLozier added 65 yards a touchdown on 16 attempts for the Blue Streaks (8-1, 7-1 OAC). The lone highlight for the Student Princes (4-5, 3-5) was an NCAA Division III-record punt of 95 yards by All-American punter Austin Baker. Baker’s booming punt came midway through the second quarter. With the ball on the 5 and a brisk wind at his back, he took the snap and launched the ball from two yards deep in his end zone.
