American Association of University Women Youngstown Branch will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Boardman Pubic Library, 7680 Glenwood Ave. “Ecosystems in the Isle of Man” will be the topic of Dr. Colleen McLean’s talk. Dr. McLean, a professor in the Department of Geology and Environmental Science at Youngstown State University, also will speak about local issues in the Mahoning Valley. Canfield Republican Women’s Club dinner meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday at A La Cart Catering in Canfield. Western Reserve Chapter Society for Human Resource Management will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 13 at Leo’s Restaurant, 7042 E. Market St., Warren. Atty. Adam Russ will be presenting an EEO training: Understanding the Law that Cover the Workplace. This program is pending approval for one hour of general recertification credit through HR Certification Institute and for one hour of Professional Development Credits for the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP. Western Reserve Knitting Guild will meet at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Rotary Community Building, Fair Park, Canfield. The evening will include a potluck dinner. Members are to take a favorite dish to share, and the guild will provide drinks, plates and utensils. The meal begins promptly at 6:30.Program will be a one-button cowl; members will need a skein of worsted or dk yarn and the appropriate needles The guild will provide the pattern. The highlight of the evening will be the first fundraiser of the year. Guild members and guests will have the opportunity to purchase a great button for their cowl. GFWC Ohio Boardman-Poland Junior Women’s League will meet Monday at Glenellen Assisted Living, 9661 Market St. Boardman at 7 p.m. Members are to bring Heifer International donation boxes to be turned in to the international office. Warren Women’s Connection, an affiliate of Stoneecroft Ministries, invites all women to attend its Nov. 12 luncheon entitled ”Annual Country Fair” at Delucia’s Banquet Center, 2610 Elm Road NE from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30. The special feature will be “Country Fair” and is one of the highlights of the year. The meeting will include drawings for gift baskets, sale of baked goods and gently used items and a live auction with Brenda Jarvis as the auctioneer. The speaker will be Meryl Bishop. NAMI Mahoning Valley also offers Family Support Groups that provide information and support for family members and friends of individuals with mental illness. Salem Regional Medical Center will host a support group for area residents who have an ostomy as well as those who are preparing for ostomy placement. The group’s next monthly meeting will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. Nov. 12 in SRMC’s private dining room at the back of the cafeteria on the hospital’s ground floor. The Ostomy Support Group meets one Monday evening a month, and there is no cost to participate. Family members and caregivers are welcome. Pre-registration for meetings is requested.
