Swift named WJWL Woman of the Year

The Warren Junior Women’s League recently named Mary Swift Woman of the Year. She has been a member since 2015 and was chairwoman of GFCW’s signature project on domestic violence awareness as well as the golf outing. Swift also is on the Public Issues, Homelife and Conservation committees. She is an advocate for animals and volunteers at the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County.

Foundation seeks board member applications

The Hope Foundation of the Mahoning Valley is seeking board members and local leaders to serve on the board of trustees. Anyone who is passionate about helping children is encouraged to apply. The foundation provides charitable and financial support of up to $5,000 to improve the lives of chronically or terminally ill children and their families.

The time commitment for board members varies and is approximately two to eight hours per month depending on activities. Board meetings are held four times a year on the second Monday in January, April, July and October (unless a major conflict arises). Most board meetings take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Anyone interested in applying is asked to submit an application by e-mail to info@hopemv.org by Friday. Library to host summer programs

NEWTON FALLS

Newton Falls Public Library, 204 S. Canal St., will host children’s summer programs, Story Time, Baby Bugs and Garden Club. Registration may be made by calling Mallory at 330-872-1282. Programs begin Friday.The library hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and closed Sunday.

Library to host reading program

BRISTOLVILLE

The Bristol Public Library's summer reading program will take place June 1 to July 13."Reading Rocks" is this year's theme for children ages one through grade 12. Toddler time and story time, for ages one to five, will be offered three times.

Space is limited on program days, but attendance isn't necessary to participate in the program for the summer. Participants in kindergarten through grade 12 will earn prize drawing tickets by reading and attending programs. Four library programs are offered and bonus prize drawing tickets will be awarded for attending. The weekly prize drawing will be offered.

Participants will earn one weekly prize drawing ticket with each visit to the library Monday through Friday (one ticket per person, per day). Prizes include admission to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, a Fender acoustic guitar bundle, and other musical and reading packages. Registration is required for all programs.
