MAY

MONDAY — The 28th annual Memorial Mile road race in Boardman. Race begins at 9:35 a.m. Some of the best runners in the area will compete for gift certificates and awards in 14 age groups. Runners ages 11 and under are free (no T-shirt) with pre-registration by Friday May 18. The entry fee is $10 in advance for all others and $13 day of race for everyone. The race starts at Routes 224 and 7. Race-day registration and packets can be picked up at Walgreens at Route 224 and Route 7. The event is sponsored by Walgreens, 910 Rapid Care, Coke, the DeBartolo Corporation, Armstrong, Novak and Davis Insurance, and other local businesses. For more information, call 330-757-7424.

THURSDAY — The Immaculate Mile at Festival at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4490 Norquest Blvd., Austintown. Registration at 5 p.m. on race day. Cost is $10. Free soft drink and hot dog for all runners. A free Kids Dash for children 10 and younger also begins at 7 p.m., with the Immaculate Mile to follow. Call Matt Hlebak at 330-398-5512.

JUNE

3 — Youngstown Marathon. The marathon and half marathon begin at 7 a.m. The 5k begins at 7:15 a.m. The Kids Run is June 2 at 11:30 a.m. The race begins and ends at Second Sole Youngstown, 755 Boardman-Canfield Road. The start of the kids race is at W. Commerce and Market St. Online registration closes on May 21. Registration for the full and half marathon closes on June 2. Runners can still register at the Expo at Covelli Centre. The expo will be open from 10 a.m-5 p.m. on June 2. Runners can register for the 5K on the morning of the race. SEPTEMBER

23 — Lordstown Apple Cider Festival 5K Race/Walk. Event begins at 10 a.m. Advance registration is $17. Race-day registration is $20. Checks payable to Lordstown Athletic Department, 1824 Salt Springs Rd., Warren, Ohio 44481. Check-in at Lordstown Schools Track/Soccer Complex at the intersection of Route 45 and Salt Springs Rd., in Lordstown. T-shirts guaranteed for all runners. Water stops, mile timers, refreshments, door prizes and local vendors will be on site.
