Students video chat with NASA engineer

Nadyne Stallsmith’s seventh-grade STEM class at Campbell Middle School is participating in a nine-week engineering design challenge used by NASA. The students were tasked with designing and improving a balsa wood glider so that it will fly successfully. The project aims to help students better understand the science behind aerodynamics as well as explore the aspects of flight through STEM learning investigations. Stallsmith’s class, along with classes from Boardman Middle School and Girard Intermediate School, hosted a video conference with Dr. Eric Hendricks, an aerospace engineer from NASA Glenn Research Center. Hendricks answered questions regarding the physics of flight, rockets, gliders and careers at NASA. Above, students tune in for the video conference with Hendricks.
